Loaves, slices and the structure of TOAST

TOAST is organised into a number of loaves, each of which corresponds to a topic area. Within each of these loaves are a number of slices. Each slice is a collection of related questions, usually aimed at helping the user determine their abilities with regard to some specific skill set.

Within a slice, some questions may have a linked 'quiz', which will assist the user in choosing an appropriate response. These quizzes are themselves composed of a collection of questions. Quizzes are similar to slices in every respect but that their questions cannot link to yet another quiz, and that their questions will usually be of a more direct style.
